Many of you probably have already heard, but Pam and I were in a serious car accident on our way to our evening concert in Stockton, MO last Sunday. I'm happy to report that both our girls came through with only a few scratches and I have a broken collar bone. Pam was thrown from the van and is in Research hospital with a broken neck and some external flesh injuries. It is a very bad situation but God has sent many blessing from the very start. I'll tell you more when I have more time.

We ask you to join us in praying for a full recovery for Pam. We will be off the road indefinately, but we know that God is not through with us, he is just sending us on a detour from the route we had been traveling.

Please no flowers since Pam is in ICU. Cards can be sent to our PO Box or emailed, I'll be reading them to her everyday.

We've been encouraged by so many people God is sending our way already and just wanted you to know we need you prayers. More to come later.

----- Friday June 9, 2000 -----

It is now Friday morning and Pam came thru her surgery yesterday fine. We received an excellent report and are praising God for it (prayers are working). She is having more surgery today and I am taking my laptop to the hospital so I can write you a detailed description of the week and hopefully answer your questions.

Please don't feel bad if you don't hear from me directly, there is no way I can respond to everyone who has been in contact (there have been hundreds of phone calls and over 40 pages of emails so far!) We do appreciate your support, it means so much to us right now! I'll be reading the cards and emails to Pam as she recovers.

We still need your prayers. God has been faithful so far and we know He will continue to be. Please pray for a FULL recovery for everyone.

 

----- Saturday June 10, 2000 -----

Complete News On The Morgan's Accident

I'm writing this to you from the waiting room at Research Hospital where we are most appropriately ... waiting. It is Friday, June 9 and I have a little time to bring you up-to-date on us and hopefully answer some of the multitude of concerns we've been receiving lately.

First of all, our CHRISTIAN FAMILY FUNFEST last Saturday was a huge success. God provided us with a beautiful day and a good time was had by all. We had a rough count of somewhere over 200 people in attendance for the evening concert. A special Thank You goes out from us to all the musicians, attendees, and helpers who made this day possible. Is this the start of an annual celebration??? You'll have to wait and see...

Sunday morning we were in service at Merwin Christian Church with our dear friends Pastor Alan and Brenda Black. Great service, great lunch, great fellowship!!! As the afternoon progressed we packed up and headed south for our evening service in Stockton, MO. About 5 miles south of Butler on Hwy 71, I fell asleep while driving and our van struck an embankment, turned over on the driver's side and slid to a stop on a bridge. Kayla, Alisha and I were all wearing seatbelts, but Pam was not as she sat beside Kayla on the back couch. She was ejected through the rear side window. God's blessings have been showered on us from the beginning and our desire is to share with you how God provides even through tragic situations. Read on and be amazed...

Our equipment trailer came unhooked during the accident and either rolled or flipped. The top was torn off but most of the equipment remained inside as the trailer came to a stop directly behind the van without hitting it. Pam ended up on the side of the road behind the van and trailer so somehow the trailer passed over or beside her without contact. Blessing #1. We also stopped in a relatively short distance while sliding across a bridge and nothing went over into the water below. Blessing #2.

Several cars following us stopped to help and one of the first people out was a nurse that made it to Pam before I could even get there! Two other gentlemen got the girls safely out of the van and two families took care of Kayla and Alisha, providing comfort, bandaids and cookies! A police officer just happened to be driving by minutes after the accident occurred, almost before we called 911. He stepped in and kept things organized. Another driver stopped who was a respiratory therapist and ready to help. I don't know about you but I've already lost count of the number of blessings! GOD IS GOOD!!!

Our family was rushed by 2 ambulances to the Bates County Emergency Room in Butler, MO. Pam was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, but I got to see her briefly before she left and she recognized me. At the time, the doctors didn't know she had a broken neck, but were concerned about brain damage. Both girls were checked out and only had scrapes and bruises, PRAISE GOD!!! I was X-rayed and it was determined I had broken my left collar bone in two places. I was given medicine and fitted with a shoulder brace. (To bring you up-to-date on me, I have seen an orthopedic surgeon and I should heal in about 6 weeks by wearing the brace. He assured me I'd get full motion back so Yes, there will still be a solo Piano album, but you'll have to wait a little longer.)

While treating Pam at Research, the doctors noticed a loss of feeling and paralysis from her chest down to her legs. It was determined that Pam's neck was broken at the 7th vertebrae and was pushed to the side. An excellent team of doctors went to work and soon with the help of traction and a special bed, her spine was realigned. She also had serious wounds to her left shoulder, left cheek and knees, plus abrasions (road rash) covering most of her body. She was conscious and coherent, so other than a concussion, there appears to be NO BRAIN DAMAGE!!!!

Her condition was stable enough on Monday for surgery to clean out and evaluate her wounds. We were told by the Orthopedic and Plastic surgeons that all her wounds were tissue damage and there were NO OTHER BROKEN BONES!!! She will have surgery this afternoon to move some muscles around to fix her shoulder and she should regain most if not all motion of her arm!!!

---> It is now Friday evening and Pam's surgery scheduled for today was postponed until tomorrow because of another emergency patient that kept the doctors busy most of the day. Now to continue...

Tuesday and Wednesday went by in kind of a blur with lots of visitors and phone calls. Pam was conscious and annoyed by the feeding tube in her nose, but still displayed her beautiful smile at my dumb jokes. We were encouraged by reports of many, many people all across the nation praying for our family. Pam was still paralyzed but the Neurosurgeon found she had consistent feeling in her right foot. This was great news and all the doctors said this was a basis for hope. (I can't wait for them to be amazed by the healing power of the Great Physician - He's just getting warmed up!)

Thursday was one long day of surgery. In an 8 hour operation, doctors fused Pam's 7th & 8th vertebrae. She did great and we received the best possible report for the situation. Her spinal cord and the protective layer of spinal fluid surrounding it are intact!!! The doctors won't make any promises, but everything is in place for great things to happen. I've got share one more amazing sign that God is working. Thursday morning while we were waiting for Pam to go to the operating room, a surgery nurse came in and said, "You probably don't remember me, but I saw you sing at Friendly Assembly of God. The operating room is full of praying Christians and I brought the tape I bought at your concert to play during the surgery." AMEN!!!!!!!

I was talking to a pastor today and we agree that neither of us have ever seen so many people pray believing God will bring about a total healing. We are not hearing people say they hope Pam will recover, they are saying 'when she does'. Prayer is powerful and we know God will work this out for good. He's already done so much, and now is the time to continue praying with even more fervor and conviction!!

We'll keep you up-to-date on Pam's recovery. Our ministry will be back and we are asking God to turn this bad situation into a powerful tool to reach even more souls for Him.

----- Sunday June 11, 2000 -----

Pam came through her surgery on Saturday with flying colors. The plastic surgeon was able to work on the injuries on her right knee, left shoulder and face. Unless there are complications, the knee and the shoulder should be finished and just need to heal! I'm sure Pam will need physical therapy for her shoulder since the doctor moved muscles around and she will need to stay limber while they are healing.

The doctor was also able to do some more work on her left cheek. Pam will need a series of operations over the next year to gradually fix her facial injuries. She has an excellent doctor (all of her doctors are exceptional!!!) and he assures us when he is finished her face will be close to perfect! Praise God!

Pam has been sleeping peacefully most of the day today and we won't know much more until tomorrow. We'll keep you up-to-date.

God is answering prayer in a BIG WAY!!! Keep them coming. Even though we have already missed 4 scheduled concerts in this short time, God is still using us to witness to others around. I'll share some of the comments we're hearing as time permits, but know that God is hearing your prayers for Pam and He is able to restore her to complete health. Don't just wish for it, believe it!

 

----- Monday June 12, 2000 -----

It is now Monday evening and Pam is resting peacefully. Today she was taken off the ventilator and is breathing fine on her own. She hasn't needed mechanical assistance breathing all this time, but the doctors wanted to make sure she was past all her major surgeries so they wouldn't have to reinsert the tube and cause more stress on her neck while it is healing. She is receiving excellent care!

Thank you all so much for the continued flood of calls, cards and emails. When Pam is not sleeping, she is asking me to read mail to her. Pam has such a special way of sharing at our concerts because she really does deeply care about each person she meets. She has a huge heart! If you've been touched by our ministry and especially Pam, please write and let her know. It is so encouraging for her to see that what we do makes a difference in people's lives.

Keep praying!!! God is working and He's not finished yet. I'm excited to see the good God is going to bring out of this difficult time. I'm convinced He's going to use us in a bigger way than we've ever dreamed. May everything be for His glory!

 

----- Tuesday June 13, 2000 -----

It is Tuesday evening and Pam is hanging there. The doctors are taking precautions to make sure she doesn't develop pneumonia. They keep her pretty worn out with all the different treatments, but when she is not sleeping Pam is very alert and coherent.

There is a song by The Isaacs we had listened to not long before our accident that has stuck in my mind during this whole ordeal. The doctors, not trying to build up any false hopes in us, don't sound very optimistic about Pam's future improvement. Still, these words from the Chorus keep running through my mind...

"They don't know the God I serve already knows the answer,
They don't know He still works miracles and holds me in His hand.
They may have their own opinions of what the future holds,
But I look up for my solution, cause they don't what God knows."

God does know what our future holds so we don't have to. He promises to walk with us always and we know that He cannot lie.

As far as Pam's paralysis, the doctors have done all they can do at this point. Now it is God's turn! We know He is able to bring about complete healing if that is His will. Keep praying and believing!

The Plastic surgeon was in this evening and changed all Pam's bandages. He says everything is healing up the way he wants!

Remember to praise God for each blessing. We are praising Him for Pam's healing, one small step at a time!

 

----- Wednesday June 14, 2000 -----

Today, Wednesday, has brought us some good news and some bad news. First the good. Last night when the plastic surgeon was changing the bandages on Pam's left thigh, she was able to feel some pain! Then later when the nurse was using a hair dryer to seal the special bandages on her leg, Pam complained the area was getting too hot. This may be a small sign, but praise be to God, we'll take it!

God must have known we'd need some good news to balance out the latest development in Pam's recovery. Despite the doctor's best efforts, she has developed pneumonia. This is very common in post-operative spinal injury patients since they are not able to move around which keeps the lungs clear. This is serious but definitely treatable, it just puts all her other problems on hold.

Thanks so much for your continued support during this time. I hope these reports help you know what to pray for; I believe specific prayer is very effective. God is working!!!

Hi Friends,

Pam's pneumonia is doing much better!!! Her lungs are clearing up and it looks like she is coming out of the woods in this area. All the other areas of her recovery have been on hold while they get her lungs cleared out so I don't have much other news to share. She is exhausted from the consistent stream of tests and treatments, and I'm pretty tired too. One bit of good news, they are going to start letting her eat a little bit today! Pam has been complaining she is hungry and longing to eat something so I know this will make her very happy.

Thanks again for your continued support. I know many of you would like to visit Pam, but since she can't have visitors yet, I thought you'd enjoy the next best thing. George Moore, the associate Pastor of our church was able to visit with Pam briefly toward the beginning of her hospitalization. He wrote me an email about the experience that I think very accurately describes being with Pam right now. Hope you enjoy...

 

Dear Phil and Pam;

A few hours ago I was at the bedside of an amazing young woman who has been seriously injured and for whom the prognosis is still uncertain. But even as I stood there, I felt the warmth of Pam's faith and personality blessing me, and the others about her bedside. We even chuckled together about her itching nose. With a host of injuries, the most frustrating thing at the moment was an itch that Pam could not deal with and others could not seem to find.

Only God knows how many lives your ministry has touched, and now how many people are lifting you in prayer to the Great Physician.

A long time ago I read a line attributed to another Methodist preacher, Ralph Soxman. He said: "An accident is something that persons cannot foresee, and that God did not intend." I have found that personally helpful in coming to grips with such a calamity as yours. But the wonderful sequel to that is found in the words of Paul: "God is at work for good in all things for those who love the Lord."

You both have shown amazing strength in this ordeal, but accept that you don't always have to be strong, because God always will be!

We, along with so many others, love you Pam and Phil. And you know that God loves you both the measure of the cross.

----- Sunday June 18, 2000 -----

Hi everybody,

More good news to report! Pam had improved enough yesterday that she has been moved from Intensive Care to Intermediate Care!!! Now she has a room with a window and everything! Also yesterday she had her first bite of food since the accident. She had some chocolate pudding and this morning had some applesauce and thickened apple juice for breakfast. Her scrapes are healing great so now they are starting to itch. She was so uncomfortable that at about 3:00 this morning 3 nurses gave her a good sponge bath and even washed her hair! She was purring like a kitten. This morning our dear friend Barb came over and we had church in Pam's room. We found many passages of comfort and encouragement, and also many reasons to lift up our praise to God, "The Only Hope We Need."

Pam is scheduled for more plastic surgery on her face tomorrow and we are praying the doctor will be able to use local anesthesia and not have to knock her out completely. If they do knock her out she will have to be put back on the ventilator during the operation and that will slow her recovery a bit.

Pam has had some promising sensation in areas of her legs but at this point is still paralyzed from the chest down. She can move her arms but doesn't have good finger control yet. God is working, so don't stop praying yet!!! He can still bring her back 100%.

----- Monday June 19, 2000 -----

Pam had the second plastic surgery on her face today and it came out fine. If everything heals up O.K. this should be her last major surgery and she can begin to recuperate and rehabilitate!! We know we are at the beginning of a long road back, but it will feel good to get out of 'Park'.

We have heard from almost every state and several countries overseas that Pam is being lifted up in prayer. What a proof that God's message of hope and love crosses every denominational and cultural barrier. It is also very encouraging to see the huge number of people God has been able to reach through two very ordinary and unworthy servants. I can't even imagine the impact if everyone reading this right now would surrender their lives completely to Christ and let Him use them as He sees fit. If God can still work through us stuck in a hospital room, I know He can do great things through you.

 

----- Tuesday June 20, 2000 -----

Well, it seems we are back in 'Park' again. Pam work up this morning with some shortness of breath and high fever this morning so the doctors readmitted her to Intensive Care. They ran several tests today looking for the cause. They were afraid she might have developed a blood clot in her lungs but that test came back CLEAR!!!! We'll know more in a couple of days. Pam is resting better now and will spend tonight at least in the ICU. Pam is for the first time starting to get a little discouraged and frustrated, a big part of which is missing seeing our girls, Kayla and Alisha. We're going to make it through this valley and your continued support really helps!

 

----- Wednesday June 21, 2000 -----

I was going to skip an update today because I figured some of you are getting tired of hearing about us, but when God is doing good stuff, I've got to share it! Pam is doing so much better today in every way. She is still in the ICU but her breathing is better, her wounds are better, her fever is down, her spirits are up, she has much more strength ... and I haven't gotten to the best part yet!! (It's O.K. to slip a HALLELUJAH! in here.) Pam is still paralyzed at this point, but when the neurosurgeon tested her today, more sensation had returned to her feet! Now she is able to correctly identify not just when but where the doctor is touching. Hold on to your hat ... the neurosurgeon was excited and told all the nurses at the desk about it. We are constantly hearing comments about how fast Pam is healing. One of the nurses today even said Pam is going to be their miracle patient. AMEN!! You see, they're looking at test results, we're talking to the One who created her in the first place. We know it's going to take a long time, but no matter what the final outcome, God is going to get all the praise!

Keep praying, God's just getting started!

P.S. A benefit concert has been planned for us on Thursday, July 27 at 7:30 pm. The program will be held at our church (Christ UMC in Indep) and will feature the Melody Boys Quartet and The Galloways!! I'll let you know more as the info becomes available. We are honored 2 of the top groups in Southern Gospel Music would take time out of their busy schedules to help us out! Make sure you come and see them.

 

----- Saturday June 24, 2000 -----

OK, OK I get the message, you are not tired of hearing about Pam. I'll keep sending updates!

Pam is out of the ICU again and back on the intermediate floor. She continues to make steady improvement. Her fever continues to come up each night, though not as high as it was before ICU this time. The doctors have had a hard time finding the reason for this nightly occurrence, but one of the specialists thinks he sees some small blood clots in her lungs. They must be small because no one noticed them the first time they reviewed the CAT scan, so we aren't too concerned. The doctors are thinning her blood and have her on bed rest for the next seven days to make sure there are no problems. I'm glad they are be extremely thorough and cautious, Pam is pretty special to me (and many, many others)! We'll get through all these side issues soon so we can get to the real rehabilitating!

On the good news side, Pam is eating again and should have her feeding tube removed next week. On the great news side, she has started WIGGLING HER TOES!!!!! This is the first movement below the spinal injury location!! Praise God! I can tell by the reaction from her neurosurgeon that he didn't expect Pam to make this much progress, at least not this soon. All I can say is, just wait to he sees all GOD can do!!!!

We know all your prayers are playing a big part in Pam's recovery so keep them coming. We love each and every one of you and can't wait to be back singing for you again!

P.S. We appreciate everyone wanting to visit Pam in the hospital, but for now we need to limited her visitors to family and close personal friends. I am reading her all the cards and emails, and we'll let you know when she is strong enough for more visitors. Thanks for understanding!

 

----- Thursday June 29, 2000 -----

God continues to be awesome and Pam's healing continues at a slow but steady pace. Pam has progressed beyond the need for intermediate care so she has now been moved to the 6th floor where the focus will begin to shift to rehabilitation. She no longer has the feeding tube, IV or any monitors hooked up to her!! She is eating real food again (sort of mushy at this point), her wounds are healing nicely, she has been off antibiotics for a couple of days and her fever has stayed down for the past several days and nights! She continues to regain a little more feeling in her legs and has started moving her left knee as well as her toes! Pam's spirits are good and she is determined she is going to walk again. It has been a great week.

It has been amazing to watch the change in the doctors. At first they were very serious and somber when they talked to us, now they bounce into the room smiling and laughing! We have heard from some ICU nurses that the original prognosis was very grim, but as one nurse put it, "I have read the chart . . . she is a miracle." Amen to that. I think the doctors are starting to see that there is a healer much more powerful than modern medicine. Please join us in praising God for His wonderful power and grace!

The other day when I went into Pam's room I noticed a rose by the window. I asked Pam where it came from and she told me it was a gift for the hospital chaplain, Simon Le. Simon told Pam that after he had visited with her for a while and watched our family's faith, God told him is was time to get serious about his own Christian walk! Hallelujah! It is so good to see God can use us even in this situation.

I'll send another note in a few days about more exciting news concerning the benefit concert planned for us and my return to the road!

 

----- Monday July 3, 2000 -----

Thanks to all of you who continue to send your love and prayers. Pam is still improving a little more each day. She had a swallowing test today which she passed (yeah!) so now she is able to eat normal food. Her blood thickness is where the doctors what it to stay for a while so she is able to sit up in a chair for a little bit each day. Her schedule is very busy as we do all sorts of exercises to get her muscles ready to start working again. She continues to have more feeling in her legs and has started moving her left knee! Her other injuries are healing up nicely and she is down to just a few small bandages now.

If you want to talk about what prayer can do, check this out. We've shared with you that the original prognosis for Pam regaining use of her lower extremities was very slim. This week her neurosurgeon said this was the first time in his 9 years experience he had ever reversed a prognosis! Pam used the opportunity to share that God is doing the healing and the doctors and nurses are tools he is using. If they think they are surprised now, just wait! God's power is unlimited. We urge you to not stop praying, we are seeing miracles every day but victory is still to come!

I promised to tell you more about the benefit concert planned for us. The event will be Thursday, July 27 at Christ United Methodist, 2 blocks East of Noland Road on 39th Street in Independence, MO. There will be a dinner starting at 6:00 pm followed by a concert featuring our good friends The Galloways and The Melody Boys Quartet at 7:30 pm. Both groups are nationally known for their excellence and ministry, and we are pleased they worked their busy schedules around to do this for us. There will be a love offering taken to help support our ministry and our family until we are able to get back on our feet again. Plan to get there early to get a good seat, with all the advertising the church is doing the building should fill up quick.

I also mentioned I'll be starting back on the road soon. We don't expect Pam to be back on a full time schedule this year, but I am starting back on Sunday, July 23. I've decided to fulfill the engagements we had scheduled close to home so I can be back to take care of Pam on mondays. We have had to postpone many, many churches because we were supposed to be out of state most of the rest of this year. That leaves many openings I'd like to fill locally. If you belong to a church within 100 miles of Kansas City and would like me to bring our ministry to your congregation, please call or email me. I'll still be bringing the strong message we have become known for plus I'm putting together a tribute to Pam and will be sharing the testimony of how God has been at work through this trying time in our lives. ----- Wednesday July 5, 2000 -----

Pam's condition has improved to the point she will be able to leave the hospital this week!!! She will be moving to the Rehabilitation Institute where the therapists can start really working her muscles to get them woken up and strong again. It has just been one month yesterday since the accident and we are amazed at the rate of Pam's recovery. God is doing great things!

We know that your prayers are really working and have a special request for you. There are a few areas that have not started working yet and we would like you to add them specifically to your prayers for Pam. They are her right leg, fingers, and abdominal region. We are living proof that prayer works so keep them coming!

----- Sunday July 9, 2000 -----

On Friday, Pam was moved from Research Hospital to The Rehabilitation Institute in Kansas City, MO. This means her injuries are healed to the point she can start receiving some intense physical and occupational therapy. She is being evaluated this weekend and her first full day of therapy is Monday. We are excited about this next step toward her return home and to our road ministry!

Keep her in your prayers for patience, endurance, and continued healing. We know God is doing amazing things and He's not through yet!

 

----- Wednesday July 12, 2000 -----

Pam is doing really great at the Rehab Institute! She is going faster and doing more than the therapists expected at first. She has a very long way to go and has been in bed for so long, she is having to learn to do many simple tasks all over again. We are still praying God will continue to restore her body and have learned that muscle function and sensation can take up to two years to return. I believe that God is setting the stage here just as He did at Research Hospital for a miraculous recovery that will leave no doubt in the minds of those working with Pam that God is her divine healer. Keep praying for Pam's return and praising God for His goodness.

----- Monday July 17, 2000 -----

Pam has now been rehabbing for one full week and she is doing super. She is now able to move her entire left foot and her leg muscle movement is getting a little stronger everyday! Praise God!!! She is getting much better at sitting up and is starting to move her wheelchair by herself. We know the God is healing Pam and all your prayers are making the difference! We fully believe one day Pam will walk out in front of a congregation and share her testimony and song in person.

This is going to be a long journey and we really need your specific prayer support for several months to come. Recovery from a spinal cord injury can take up to 2 years and sometimes longer. It is a painfully slow process and no doctor can predict what motion and sensation will or won't return. We know that only God can heal Pam completely and that is the desire of our hearts. In the meantime we pray for patience, strength, endurance and daily support from God.

I'll be starting back on the road this Sunday. Sunday morning I'll be at Countryside United Methodist in the morning and First Baptist of Shawnee in the evening. The times and addresses are on our calendar on the website. I invite you to join me on Sunday evening for a special return concert. I'll be sharing how God has led us through this recent valley and the awesome power of prayer. I know many of you have been keeping up with us through these emails and I would love to worship with you face to face. ----- Monday August 7, 2000 -----

Pam continues to make slow but steady progress. Her wounds are healing nicely and the neurosurgeon says her neck is healed to the point she no longer has to wear a neck brace! The muscles in her left leg are moving and getting stronger everyday and all the muscles needed for standing are working in that leg. Her therapists have decided to put standing off for a while because her muscles still fatigue very fast and there are other skills that are more useful right now to help Pam come home. Yup, that's right, Pam's coming home sometime in the near future!

We mentioned at our benefit concert that part of the money would be used to put a chair lift in our home and that will be installed this Thursday. We also need to have our bathroom door widened and Pam's nephew is doing that next weekend. Everything is coming together and we so appreciate your help in making all this financially possible. We're not sure yet how much our insurance is going to cover but we did find out they won't cover any home modifications. Thanks to you, Pam will be coming home!

We also used part of the benefit money to buy Pam a new laptop computer outfitted so she can use it, so she will be emailing you directly in the near future. I'll let her fill you in on most of what's been happening, but I've got to share this one. We've been asking you to pray that movement would return to Pam's fingers. Well, last Friday while she was sitting in bed she started moving both thumbs!!! Yet another prayer that God is beginning to answer. Please continue to pray to Pam's recovery, we know that God hears every word you say.

 

----- Tuesday August 15, 2000 -----

Pam is coming home this Thursday!!! It has been almost 11 weeks since Pam has slept in her own bed and she is ready. We are still making modifications to the house, but the stairglide is in so that was the main thing needed for her homecoming. Pam will now be in the "day hospital" program at the Rehab Institute which means she will spend her week days there and her nights and weekends at home. She will probably be in therapy for the rest of this year.

Also on a positive note, Pam continues to get more movement back. She has added hip muscle movement to her left leg and her right leg has finally decided to join the party. She has started to have trace movement in several muscles in that leg. Her fingers continue to improve and overall strength is coming along nicely. Part of her therapy is endurance training with weights and workout machines. I figure when this is through she'll be so strong I'll let her set up all the sound equipment while I rest and oversee. HAHAHA!!

----- Wednesday August 30, 2000 -----

It's hard to believe, that Pam has been home now for almost two weeks. It's wonderful to have the kids home and we are starting to feel like a family again. Pam is still in therapy Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Her parents are and driving her so now I can stay home and try to catch up on three months of paperwork. Coming home has been a real learning experience. On one hand it's great to get to sleep in our own bed again and be in familiar surroundings, but on the other hand, it's frustrating for Pam to know where everything is and not be able to reach it. We are very busy, because simple tasks that we used to take for granted are now very difficult and very time-consuming. We're so thankful that my mom is able to stay with us for a while to help with cleaning, the kids and life in general. We're also blessed to have many friends who faithfully bring food so we don't have to find time to cook. All in all, I'd have to say our life right now is tough and some days it's hard to find the joy, but God is still good and we're going to make it.

Our daughter, Kayla, started to kindergarten last Wednesday. She is having a great time and learning so much. Her sister, Alisha, likes to wait for Kayla to get off the bus and then runs up to greet her with a great big hug. It's the cutest thing!!!

Pam and I are both on the mend, it's just taking longer than either of us would like. My shoulder is still hurting quite a bit and the bone is not completely healed. The doctor says all the lifting I have to do helping Pam and is slowing down the healing process. Pam continues to make steady improvement and more muscles are beginning to wake up. It can get discouraging when she sees how far there is to go for full recovery, but the therapists still say she is moving at a great pace for a spinal cord injury patient. We have noticed one very interesting thing. When I go out and share Pam's story in concert and ask people to pray for her, within a couple of days we usually see some noticeable improvement. Coincidence...I don't think so. We know that God has been answering prayers from the very beginning and He continues to do so. That means you are a very important part of Pam's recovery. Thanks so much and keep the prayers going.

I've got some great ideas for new "Inspiration Station" articles, now I've just got to find time to write them down. Keep watching and I'll send one as soon as possible.

 

----- Wednesday September 13, 2000 -----

The continuing saga of life at the Morgan household goes on. We are doing good and things are coming along slowly but surely. We have past the 3 month mark since the accident and Pam is still making improvement. We know prayer is making the difference so thanks and keep them coming!

We found out Monday that Pam will need a couple more surgeries to restore her face but that won't be for a few more months. The doctors say her face should be healed in about a year. In the meantime she won't be winning many beauty contests, unless they look inside, then she'll win them every time!

I have been working hard to finish our equipment trailer. I am having our original one rebuilt, but it has turned out to be such a huge job that I bought another one instead. God was really working this time. I found a used trailer exactly like the one we had except about 4 years older. I've been outfitting it like our previous one so we can carry all our stuff just like before. We're also looking for a new van with a lift for Pam's wheelchair. All your gracious donations are coming in real handy now!

----- Tuesday September 26, 2000 -----

We hope this finds everyone doing just super. Pam continues to impress her therapists with her rehabilitation progress. Here's the latest...

Last week was a major milestone in Pam's long recovery process. For the very first time, she stood!!! The therapists put a brace on her right leg and with one person in front and one behind, they stood her up at the parallel bars. She did much better than expected for a first attempt and captured the attention of everyone in the gym. This is the first step to Pam walking again!!

Speaking of walking... Pam's doctor has given a new prognosis for her future condition. They expect her to be wheelchair independent (able to function by herself) in two months with a long term goal of walking with assistance (brace, cane, etc.) When we consider how much more God has done than the first prognosis (no movement), we can't help but get excited about how much more He will do than this one. Keep those prayers coming...they truly are making the difference.

----- Thursday October 12, 2000 -----

God has been moving and things have been busy around the Morgan homestead! I started writing this update 10 days ago to here it finally is. Where to start, where to start??? Well, here goes...

First, we finally ordered our new van! We will be having a special lift installed so Pam can get in and out by herself. This is the first (and possibly last) time we've bought a brand new car and by the time we get the lift installed it will cost almost half as much as our house, but we're gonna drive this one until the wheels fall off! Our current vehicle has 220,000 miles and it's starting to limp so it's about time.

We told you a couple of weeks ago about Pam standing for the first time. Monday Pam stood for the second time and this time ... for the first time since June ... Pam took her first few steps!!!!! We hope you will join us in praising God for this milestone and witnessing opportunity. Please don't stop praying now, we are still believing in Pam's full recovery.

Pam's power wheelchair came last Thursday. Now she is able to get into the bedrooms in our house by herself. She is doing great and we've only had to replace 2 drawer handles and fix the dishwasher door so far. Pam's gonna whack me when she finds out I told you that last part, so I'll have to run fast!

Pam saw her Neurosurgeon on Monday and he was amazed her progress. He said it was "extremely rare" for someone with her injury to make any progress at all, not to mention the pace at which she is improving. I told him that is because so many people have been praying. We're not sure if he is a Christian or not, but by the time Pam's healing is complete, I'll bet God makes a believer out of him. Hallelujah!!!

This Friday Pam and I will celebrate 10 years of marriage! We meant "for better or worse", but I hope we've about covered the worse part by now! We're going to get out town for a couple of days to just relax and enjoy. See ya'll next week!

----- Monday October 30, 2000 -----

We hope this finds you happy, healthy and enjoying God's blessings. Many of you have been inquiring about the exciting news we've mentioned lately. Remember, patience is a virtue!!! I'll get to that in a little bit, but first...

We had a wonderful time celebrating our 10th anniversary at the beautiful Country Club Hotel in Osage Beach, MO. While many folks were headed to the tennis courts, racquetball courts, sauna, and pool; we were off to the all-you-can-eat catfish buffet! One thing you should know about Gospel singers, you can always get our attention with phrases like "potluck dinner" and "all-you-can-eat". It was a relaxing escape from our daily routine which we both desperately needed and enjoyed.

We have decided to skip our annual "Harvest Time Gospel Sing" this year and resume in November 2001. For some reason, I've had a hard time finding extra time to put everything together! Instead I hope you will join me in December for a special Christmas program with the Sundowners Country Music Show in Oak Grove, MO. On December 8 & 9 I will be doing a mini concert as part their annual Christmas extravaganza. For more info call 224-8259. It should be a great time so plan to be there!

Our new van came last Thursday and it feels good to be vehicularly independent again. Thanks so much to Jamie and Amy Jones for loaning us your van while we were without. More exciting news ... Pam has progressed so much in the last few weeks that we won't have to have a lift installed!!! God is great and we are praising Him for all He has done and continues to do. Keep those prayers going up!

Now, about our exciting news ... Coming in November for the first and last time ever ... you're gonna love it ... I can hardly wait to share this with all of you ... it's almost ready ... but not quite yet. I promise I won't keep the suspense up much longer, but I've got ya guessing, don't I?

November is here and the weather in KC has left no doubt that summer is long gone. It's hard to believe this year is nearing an end. It has held some twists and turns we would never have imagined this time last year. November also means something else ... it is finally time to share our exciting news. Yes, you have been waiting patiently (some rather impatiently) and now the wait is over. But first... (just kidding ha,ha,ha)

OK, here goes. I couldn't count the number of times over the past few months I have heard people say they would love to hear Pam and me together in concert again. Well, you asked, we listened and now we are pleased to present ... a brand new CD ...

**** PHIL & PAM MORGAN - What Matters Most 2000 Live ****

Just 2 weeks before the accident our What Matters Most tour took us to St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids, IA. St. Paul's is a large church that televises their services and the night we were there they videotaped our presentation. We have taken the audio from that tape and created a new live album. This was one of Pam's last public appearances and the evening was a great time of worship.

We wanted to make this CD a little different from anything we've done before, and offer it to all of you that have stood faithfully beside us through this difficult season. For that reason, this project will not become part of our regular product lineup and will only be available for the remainder of 2000 by mail.

The recording features all your favorite songs plus some wonderful testimony that will stir your heart. Although we didn't know it at the time, it marks the end of what we believe to be the first phase of our ministry. When Pam is able to rejoin me on the road again (hopefully some time next summer) we will begin a whole new chapter in our ministry that will be beyond anything we have done so far. You have been an important part of what has happened over the past four years and we want you to share in our celebration of what God has done through 2 very ordinary servants.

=====PAM UPDATE=====

Pam continues to steadily improve and now in rehab she has graduated to using a walker. For the first time last Thursday she was able to advance her right foot by herself. There is still a long way to go but God's not finished yet!!

We found out today that Pam's face should be healed enough for her next round of surgeries in January. We'll let you know more as the time approaches.

Pam's fingers aren't making much progress yet and that is really frustrating. Please add some specific prayers that God will restore her hands completely.

 

=====PHIL UPDATE=====

I haven't talked about myself much but several of you have asked, so... I'm going back to the orthopedic surgeon next Monday. My broken collarbone was supposed to be healed and back to normal in about 2 months, but that's not the case. It's been 5 months now and I still have a lot of pain and can't lift much with that arm. A couple weeks ago my fingers on that hand started getting numb so I decided it was time to do something about it. Please pray with me that God will restore my shoulder so I can continue caring for the rest of my family. I'll keep you posted.

 

----- Wednesday November 22, 2000 -----

It's that special week of the year when turkeys are nervous and cows are calm. Yes, Thanksgiving is here! We hope you take time to really count your blessings and praise God for the things you usually take for granted. After our year we realize that all of us being together is the biggest blessing of all!

Our new album is finished and as of today all the orders have shipped out. You should receive your copy very soon. We mentioned there was a delay in the printing but it was well worth the wait. The CD features 12 songs, 58 minutes of music and testimony, and 20 pictures from the concert! We'd love to hear everyone's response so e-mail us what you think.

On the health front, Pam continues to improve daily and is the only one of our crew who doesn't have a cold. Poor little Alisha has got it so bad we're having to give her breathing treatments so say a special prayer for her. I went to the orthopedic doctor Monday because my collarbone isn't healing right. He looked at the X-rays and said, "Phil, your collarbone isn't healing right." (That's why they make the big bucks!) My bone is in four pieces and some of them are not fusing back together. I go next Monday for a CT Scan to see if they are just healing slow or if they are not going to close up by themselves. Depending on the results I'll either start electromagnetic therapy or have to have a bone graft. I'm praying for the therapy and not the surgery so I can continue taking care of the rest of our bunch. Have a wonderful holiday!

----- Thursday December 7, 2000 -----

We trust you had a wonderful and restful Thanksgiving and now are ready for the headlong rush toward Christmas. I can't believe it's December already! We've had several questions this week so let's start with some answers...

• I (Phil) had the Cat Scan of my collarbone and follow up doctor visit last Monday. The bones in my shoulder haven't grown back together and that is why I still have pain and lack of strength in that arm. We have decided to try the electromagnetic therapy so I'll be wearing a bone growth stimulator for 10 hours a day for the next 3 months. I also need to keep that area as still as possible so I'm wearing my arm sling again. Please pray for a quick and successful healing of my fracture so I can get back to normal (or as normal as I ever get)!

• Pam continues to make steady progress in rehab. She is walking over 100 feet at a stretch with the walker so she has started using a walker some at home. In fact she just walked from the kitchen table to the bath tub all by herself! Her fingers are slightly better but still have a long way to go. God has brought her this far and with your prayers we know He'll continue to heal her.

• There has been some confusion about our new CD. Our new project and our Christmas album are not the same thing. The Christmas album was released in 1997 and contains all (you guessed it) Christmas songs. The new album is WHAT MATTERS MOST 2000 LIVE and contains the regular lineup for our 2000 concerts. All the songs on both albums are listed in the PRODUCTS area of our web page, www.PhilandPamMorgan.com. You can order them there too!

• We have decided to release the new album on cassette. They will be available in the next few days. ----- Tuesday December 12, 2000 -----

It was great to see so many of you at the Sundowner's Christmas show last Friday and Saturday nights. Pam came out Saturday night and we enjoyed the program together. Everyone did a wonderful job and the Sundowner bunch are top quality through and through. This was the first time Pam has seen me do our songs solo and she said she didn't like it one bit. She can hardly wait for us to be singing together again. (Me too!)

On the medical front, Pam walked 195 feet with the walker last week in therapy and is doing more and more at home as well. Phil's bone growth stimulator is in and he will be fitted for it this afternoon. Keep praying there is improvement on all fronts.

Our new WHAT MATTERS MOST 2000 LIVE project is now available in both CD and Cassette format. Amid the mass of papers I loving call my desktop I have misplaced the list of people who wanted the Cassette version, so if that is you, please forgive me and e-mail your request once more. ----- Monday December 18, 2000 -----

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...everywhere but under our tree. The weather here in KC has been horrible and we haven't gotten our shopping nearly finished. You can pray for us as we join all the other last minuters in the mad dash for holiday bliss.

If you have received something but haven't paid yet, please do as soon as possible. We are trying to close out our books for 2000 and have LOTS of open accounts. Thanks so much!

I have started my treatment for my collarbone. I have a harness to wear on my shoulder for 10 hours a day. (I never knew 10 hours was sooo long.) It is still supposed to take 3 months to heal so I think I'll improve too slowly to notice. Maybe one day I'll wake up one day and it won't hurt anymore!! Sounds good to me!

Pam sees her plastic surgeon today and if all goes well she should have some more surgery after the first of the year. We'll keep you up-to-date as we know something.

----- Tuesday January 2, 2001 -----

Welcome to 2001! We hope you can look back and see God's hand guiding, supplying, supporting and comforting you throughout 2000. We are looking forward to a new year full of God's blessings, both for us and for you as well.

Pam continues to steadily improve. She is using the walker more and more at home and is getting around quite well. When we celebrated Christmas at my Aunt's house she didn't use the wheelchair at all. Her doctors are phasing her off the medicines she has been taking since the accident and she is down to only 2 prescriptions!! Those should go away also as she makes further progress. Keep praying, we've found that sometimes miracles take a long time.

We think Phil's collarbone is starting to show some signs of improvement. It is slight but the new treatment is supposed to take 3 or 4 months so we are encouraged. We are also elated because Phil finally has insurance. You may know that we have been struggling with the insurance company over a technicality, but after 9 months Phil will once again have health insurance. The policy will date back to May of 2000 so our accident and subsequent medical expenses should all be covered. Amen!

----- Tuesday January 9, 2001 -----

The new year is rolling ahead at full steam and dragging us along with it! Considering we are supposed to be slowed down the first of this year, we sure do seem busy. We hope you are back in the swing of things and doing fine.

Pam and I visited her plastic surgeon yesterday and she is healed enough to move to the next stage of surgery. She will have an implant placed in one cheek to stretch the skin for her next facelift (that one will get her eye back in shape again). They will also fix some scars and work more on her shoulder to release tension caused by the original skin graft. The surgery is scheduled for Feb 2 at 8 am.

I think my collarbone is starting to make some progress. For the first time when I press down it feels like one bone instead of moving parts. Now instead of sharp pain in one area it just hurts all over. I'm sure I'll be back in good shape by the time Pam is ready to hit the road.

We have kept our concert calendar empty until September, but I will be doing one solo concert on Friday, January 19. I will be at Blue Ridge Blvd. Christian Church in Independence, MO and the evening will start at 7:30pm. I'm doing something really different this time. I've invited several of my good musical buddies and we are going to have a fun night of gospel music, some old and some new, with all live music. It should be a lot of fun so I hope you will plan to join me there!

----- Wednesday January 17, 2001 -----

I waited a day to send this week's newsletter out so I could include a report about Pam's visit to her neurosurgeon. Three months ago at her last visit she could only move one leg a little bit so we knew her doctor would be surprised. You may remember this doctor's original prognosis was that Pam would never walk or feel anything from the chest down. Today she walked into his office with her walker! When he was checking her legs for sensation and strength he kept muttering "wow" and "gosh." I thought at the end of her examination he would say something about how pleased he was with her progress or how fortunate she was, but much to our joy, all he said was "unbelievable." We have prayed all through this ordeal that God would heal Pam in a way that would leave no doubt that He is the one doing it. Today we saw a great surgeon admire the work of his superior ... the Great Physician. Glory to God!!!

I hope you KC area residents are planning to come out this Friday night at 7:30pm to Blue Ridge Blvd. Christian Church in Independence, MO (It is located about a mile north of the Blue Ridge Mall on Blue Ridge Blvd). We had a rehearsal last night and I'm excited to share this great music with you. There will be some old favorites and some new tunes, plus I'm planning to do some of my songs that we haven't recorded yet. There will also be special guests and surprises you won't want to miss. Oh, by the way, you may not recognize me ... but you'll have to come out to see exactly what I mean.

Thanks so much to all who came out last Friday night to Blue Ridge Blvd. Christian. The sanctuary was packed and we had a great time. Special thanks also to Bill, Kelly and Chris Filer, Chad Middaugh and Brenda Black who all did a wonderful job sharing the platform with me. I am honored to have such good and Godly friends. For those of you who didn't make it and were wondering about my new look ... I've grown a beard in my time off the road. Don't worry, I'll shave it off when Pam is ready to return, but it the meantime it is nice to do something different.

We've had many encouraging comments about Pam's progress and are glad to share what God has done so far. Pam is doing far beyond what her doctors predicted, but there is still a long way to go. There are several muscles in her legs that haven't woken up yet and her hands are coming along very slowly. Please continue to pray for her healing and also that God will use this time in our lives to touch many others. Our hearts' desire is to return to spreading God's good news to people wherever the Lord leads us.

Speaking of prayer, this week I am staining and building bunk beds for our girls. Many of you may remember the devotion about my lack of talent at plumbing. Well, my inability doesn't stop there, it extends into most areas of building or fixing things. So remember me this week, I need all the supernatural help I can get!

----- Wednesday January 31, 2001 -----

Welcome to another week in the Morgan household. The biggest news this week is Pam's surgery on Friday morning. This is the next phase in her plastic surgery where the doctor will place a tissue expander in her cheek to prepare for the big face lift in a couple of months. They will also be working to fix and improve the skin graft area on her shoulder and one area on top of her head. This should be a minor surgery compared to what she's already been through, but prayers are always welcome!

Many of you have inquired about our girls new bunk beds. They are finished and the girls love them! Several of my close friends (who know first hand my lack of talent in building things) offered to help after reading last week's e-mail. Thanks to all!

Pam had an appointment with her plastic surgeon to follow-up Friday's surgery and it was all good news. They took the bandages off and Pam was so relieved. The inflatable bag is now in her cheek and the doctor was able to go in through a previous scar so you can't even tell she had surgery, she just looks like I gave her a good whack up side the head! They also removed a scarred area on her scalp so her hair won't have a hole in it. Her shoulder they fixed now has a big zigzag incision from the shoulder to about halfway down her upper arm and, for the first time in months, she can lay on her back with her arms stretched out and both elbows can touch the bed! That seems so insignificant until you can't do it anymore! She will go back next Monday to have her staples and stitches removed and to begin inflating her cheek bag. God is good and brought an excellent team of specialists to put Pam back together again. Amen!

There is one concern you can add to your prayers for us. Our insurance has decided that Pam is able to function in the community and they want to end her therapy. They are looking at the fact that she can walk 400 feet with a walker but overlooking all the progress she is making in other areas and all she still needs to master to function independently. We are working on this through her doctors so we'll see what will happen. If we aren't able to change the insurance company's mind we may continue therapy and pay for it ourselves. We ask you to pray that God will work it out so none of this gets in the way of Pam's progress and our return to full-time ministry.

Happy Valentine's Day to one and all! Make sure to let those special people in your life know how much you love them this year.

Pam had a great trip to her plastic surgeon yesterday. He removed the stitches from her shoulder and the staples from the top of her head. Then came the much-awaited moment ... the blowing up of Pam's face. A large needle was stuck into the pouch in her cheek and the doctor pumped in 30 cc of saline solution. The effect is definitely noticeable! I told Pam if she holds her mouth just right and looks like she's about ready to spit, maybe everybody will think she's a tobacco chewer! For the next few weeks the doctor says she will start looking like an alien, but that's OK, she's the most beautiful alien I've ever seen.

We are still trying to tie up some loose ends from last year (insurance, taxes, insurance, bookkeeping, insurance, etc...) before we dig into this year's goodies. We have many exciting new facets of our ministry planned that we'll share with you as we get them going, but here's a little sneak peek for you. We are starting to work on a brand new album featuring all new original songs that will be released when we return to the road later this year. I won't tell you more now, but it should be our best yet! We've gotten a deeper look at God this past 8 months and are excited to share what we've learned with you. Please pray that God will inspire Phil as he writes our Christian walk into words and music.

----- Tuesday February 20, 2001 -----

Pam created quite a stir last Sunday when she walked into church with her walker. This was the first time we left the wheelchair in the van and she did great. At home she has started practicing walking with just a cane! God's healing power is awesome and still at work in her. Keep those prayers of petition and thanksgiving going up.

We visited the plastic surgeon again yesterday for Pam's weekly cheek inflation. Pam was a little disappointed because the doctor was only able to add another 10cc instead of the 30cc he had hoped for. He said not to worry because we have plenty of time, but Pam is eager to get this whole process over so she can have her final facelift.

Last week I mentioned the new album we have started working on for this fall. We have many new ministry ideas in the planning stages for this year and thought it might be fun to share a little bit each week to let you know what we're up to. We see a tremendous witnessing opportunity on the internet and are moving our website to a bigger server. Our page will go from 10 meg to 600 meg. That means we have lots of room for more resources for you. One of the first will be a complete collection of all our songs in Real Audio format. Soon you will be able to hear anything we've recorded right over the net! There is much more coming so keep checking in.

----- Tuesday February 27, 2001 -----

Winter here in KC just keeps hanging on and I am ready for spring and warmer weather! Oh well, I guess it is still February.

Pam went for her weekly cheek fill-up yesterday and the doctor was able to add 15 cc this time. That brings her up to 55 cc out of 80 cc total - over halfway there! No news yet on our insurance resuming Pam's therapy but they are working on it so we are still hopeful. Keep praying, God can make it happen.

Lots of people have been asking about our ministry schedule so here is an update. We are not doing any concerts at this time. I finished up last year's schedule in December and am waiting until Pam can join me before we start again. We are planning to return full steam sometime this July or August. Though we are off the road we are still very busy. Pam's getting ready to leave the house now takes 3 to 4 hours not to mention the constant daily demands of a five- and two-year-old. God is doing a good job taking care of our financial needs, too. Pam is able to get Social Security disability which makes our house payment and many friends of the ministry have been faithful in their continued support until we get back on our feet and back on the road. Thanks for your interest and for walking this detour in our journey with us.

We had so much response to last week's devotion, I feel like I should have put a "no stuffed animals were injured during the writing of the e-mail" disclaimer at the end. Yes, we did pull Angel Bear out of the trash and it is safely hidden away for Alisha when she is older. I bet that bear will have a whole new meaning when she hears it's story.

- NEWSFLASH - Many of you probably remember back in 1997/98 when we hosted a weekly radio program called Sounds of Praise. We played our songs, shared our thoughts, and featured some of the biggest names in Southern Gospel music as our weekly special guests. This Thursday will mark the fourth anniversary of the premier broadcast, and to celebrate we are re-releasing all the shows over the Internet. Each week we will upload the show that was aired exactly 4 years previously in it's entirety (except for the commercials). The programs will then remain as a permanent feature on our new enlarged website so you can listen anytime. We'll drop you a brief note Thursday with the details, and we hope you'll enjoy this glance back at the early days of our ministry.

One last note... Sunday we listened as one of our dear friends sang about God's goodness during the morning worship service. It was particularly meaningful because she was diagnosed with cancer and given six months to live...about seven months ago. She still has some mountain to climb, but she's still here, looking great and sounding better than ever! What a testimony to the healing power of God and the effectiveness of prayer. I'm not surprised, for I see the power of prayer every time I watch my "paralyzed" wife walk into the room. Praise His Name!!!

----- Tuesday March 13, 2001 -----

What a wild week we've had around the Morgan ranch. Both of our kids have been sick and Kayla got to spend an exciting evening in the Emergency Room with possible appendicitis. It turned out she had double ear infections, an upper respiratory virus, pneumonia in both lower lungs, and severe constipation. She was one sick little girl but is starting to come around. Both girls started arguing yesterday so things are getting back to normal!

Pam went in for her cheek fill-up yesterday and we may have some bad news. The pouch in her cheek may be leaking instead of stretching the skin fully. The doctor will be able to tell next week and if the implant isn't working he will go ahead with the surgery sooner than planned. He thinks he has enough skin to do the job but we are hoping he has plenty to fix everything with one surgery. Keep praying that God works everything out just right!

There is so much good news to tell you this week, I'm gonna have to hit the highlights. Here goes...

• I went to the doctor last Wednesday and he said my shoulder isn't completely healed, but it is far enough along that it won't rebreak if I use it. I'm supposed to wear the bone growth stimulator for another month and then let time (and God) take it from there.

• Pam has her big facelift next Tuesday to fix her left cheek and eye. This probably won't be the last, but any from here on should be minor. Please pray that the surgery goes smoothly and does all it is supposed to do.

• We have had a great response to our MP3.com website and beginning this month we are going to add a new song each week. This week's song will be "His Grace Still Amazes Me" from our Gospel Favorites Live CD. It should be up and running anytime, so check it out at www.mp3.com/PhilandPamMorgan. Remember, everytime you listen it also earns money for our ministry, so thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

----- Tuesday April 10, 2001 -----

Pam's surgery today went great!! The doctor was able to accomplish what he wanted to do and she came through with flying colors. Pam will still need one more surgery in the future to replace the left half of her eyebrow and fix some other small scars on her face, but the major work is done. I told her I could probably fix her eyebrow with some cat hair and superglue, but she doesn't seem to have much faith in my surgical skills. One other cool thing happened at the hospital. While I was waiting in the lobby, people kept coming up who recognized me and told me their churches had been praying for Pam. I heard over and over how our God working in our lives has been an inspiration to them. God keeps coming through every time!

We are making some internet changes so last week's Radio program hasn't been uploaded yet. Starting next week we are planning to release a devotion/newsletter, a new radio show and a new single on our MP3.com site each Tuesday. We hope your Easter was a wonderful worship experience. We'll revisit the tomb in this week's Inspiration Station so read on...

Pam is doing great after her surgery last week. Yesterday the doctor removed the stitches and said her face is looking great. There was a lot of swelling and bruising around her eye which is starting to go away and should be gone in another week or so. We have a photo shoot scheduled while we are in Nashville in June and the doc said she should look fine. He didn't say anything about how I would look so I'm not sure what that means???

Our new recording is taking shape. I spent all morning on the phone working on details. We will be using the same top-notch players we did last time so it should sound great! We have narrowed the songs down to 12 so far, about half of which I haven't finished writing yet, so I've got to get moving. We have decided on a title for the project, but I think I'll let you wait a little longer to find out...

Welcome to another busy week with the Morgans! Things are starting to pick up as we move toward our return to the road and excitement is in the air. If you haven't heard yet, our return concert is Saturday, August 25 at Christ UMC in Independence, MO. We have opened our calendar from that date until the end of 2002, so if you'd like us to bring the testimony of God's amazing miracle in Pam to your church, now is the time to call. Pam continues to improve and do more around the house. Her face surgery is healing very nicely and she is able to wear makeup again (that makes her very happy, but I think she looks beautiful with or without it). She will be seeing a hand specialist this week to see what can be done about her fingers. She has some movement in them, but the scar tissue prevents full motion of the joints. We'll see what happens, most likely more surgery. We are still praying God will complete the great work He has started in Pam's healing and ask you to join us in this petition.

We've selected the songs for our new album and I am finishing writing and arranging them. You better go ahead and buy an extra box of hankies now cause you're gonna need 'em! God has been speaking some powerful messages to me thru these songs and I know He will bless you through them too.

Just moments before I was ready to send this to you, Pam was contacted by Channel 9 TV here in Kansas City. They want to feature her story on the news in the next few weeks. We suggested they come to the release concert (which they are going to) and release the story after we have come full circle. They said they would like to do a big story on us now and another big follow-up story after the release concert. Best of all, the person working on this story is a Christian and we feel the TRUE story of God's healing will be told with the credit going where it belongs ... straight up!

----- Tuesday May 1, 2001 -----

We were very pleased with our feature spot on the evening news last night! We were hoping for 1.5 to 2 minutes at the very end of the broadcast, but we got almost 4 minutes at the top of the second segment!!! Better yet, the story was told from the right perspective. It was refreshing to hear news people using words like "faith" and "prayer" and "the power of God." I am going to try to get permission to have a recording of the broadcast placed on our webpage so everyone can see it. I pray that God was honored by what was done last night and He uses it in a mighty way.

Pam continues to improve and is using just a cane and sometimes nothing around the house. She is a little hesitant to use the cane alone out in public, for some reason she is afraid to take a fall on the concrete!

I made some updates to our webpage, which is probably all the redesigning I'll have time to do for a while. I added a new opening splash screen with concert photos and an improved home page with a "NEW THIS WEEK" section so you can see at a glance what's new and noteworthy. One other big addition, you can now listen to all of our songs in their entirety on the website. There is over 4 hours of music available in the RealAudio format all accessed from our PRODUCTS page.

Pam and I just returned from a couple's retreat over the weekend and we are both rested and charged for the upcoming events in our lives and ministry. In case you just tuned in, on the one year anniversary of our accident we will be walking into New River Recording Studio in Nashville to cut a new album. We will debut the album at our official Return Concert, August 25, 2001 at Christ United Methodist Church in Independence, MO. We have opened our booking calendar from that date on through 2002 and the calls are coming in! It will be great to once again spread the good news of Jesus face to face.

Pam continues to improve and is using just the cane or nothing at all around the house! We have received a wonderful response to our news feature on KMBC TV9 last Monday. The station says they are interested in following our story with regular updates and may even go to Nashville with us to tape our recording session. We'll keep you up-to-date with the latest as it arises.

----- Tuesday May 15, 2001 -----

Time is winding down to our Nashville recording trip and we are rushing to keep up! Most of the songs are written and we can't wait for you to hear the message God is giving us this time around. It's powerful stuff! We do have some areas that could use extra prayer support from you. First, pray that God will send the rest of the songs for this project and Phil will be attentive enough to hear them. Second, please pray for Pam's strength vocally and physically during the recording. It might not seem like it, but singing 10 hours a day for 5 days in a row is exhausting. Both of these are areas where we feel humanly insufficient, so that leaves plenty of room for God to do His stuff.

Pam is doing more walking around the house with no cane or walker, and she is down to just the cane for out in public. A few days ago she suddenly lost her voice for no apparent reason (all the more reason for the above mentioned prayers) and it is coming back but not enough to sing yet. We just figure Satan must be getting really nervous or he wouldn't keep messing with us!

I have a full day of song arranging and charting today so this is going to be short. Thanks for the prayers for inspiration last week, they worked! All the songs for our new album are finished except one and it is close. God has really given some good one this time, we're excited to see your response when you hear them.

Pam is walking everywhere with just a cane now and she says her fingers are starting to move a little more. We have found a new use for her walker ... Kayla drapes a blanket over it and it transforms into a puppet stage. Besides, I would much rather see her little hand puppets behind it than Pam any day! God is Good!

----- Tuesday May 29, 2001 -----

I can hardly believe it, but next Monday will be exactly one year since our accident. We will be spending the day at New River Recording Studio in Nashville working on our new album. The project is going to be called "Living Proof" because that's exactly what we are ... living proof that God is awesome. The muscles in Pam's legs are supposed to be completely useless, yet on Monday she will walk into the studio. All her abdominal muscles used in singing were paralyzed, but now they are once again working. Satan may have intended our accident to end the work we were doing for God, but instead we are now an undeniable testimony to the power and glory of the Almighty. Praise His Name!!!

I was working last night on song arrangements when God sent us a message that is too cool not to share. Fairly late in the evening the phone rang. It was a fellow from Texas who had never seen us in concert, but got one of our tapes in Eureka Springs, Arkansas at a concert by a singing friend of ours from Pryor, Oklahoma. He said he had been praying for Pam and wanted us to know how much our music ministered to him. He had given our tape to his daughter but got our number from someone who called to tell him Pam was walking again. He ended the call by praying for us and our recording session next week. If you ask me, that whole scenario and the timing of his call was just a bit too wild to be coincidence. When I hung up I said a prayer of thanks to God for letting me know we are on the right track and His blessing is on this new recording and the continuation of our ministry.

----- Tuesday June 12, 2001 -----

We're back from Nashville and everything went GREAT!!! Thanks so much for all the prayers, we could see them working. We've had so many questions about "making a record" that we thought instead of an Inspiration Station this week, we'll take you through our week day by day to give you a better idea of what is involved in recording. Here goes ... enjoy!

PREPARATION - The work didn't begin when we got to Nashville, it was already well underway. For the past weeks and months we've been getting things in order - studio time was booked, musicians were lined up and travel arrangements were made. All the songs had to be selected, finished in many cases, arranged and charted for the musicians, then demo recordings of each song were made. In a word, we'd been busy.

SUNDAY - We packed our bags and flew to Nashville, checked into our hotel (not the one where we had reservations, but that's another story) and turned in early to get a good night's rest.

MONDAY - We arrived at New River Recording Studio at about 9:30 in the morning and started the day by getting reacquainted with the musicians. We shared that this was the one year anniversary of our accident and all that God had done to bring us this far. The guys were very moved and we opened the session with prayer. For each song the order of events is very similar. Everybody gathers in the control booth and listens to the song (usually just once) then there is a brief discussion about arrangement ideas. Next the drummer, bassist, pianist, lead guitarist, and rhythm guitarist all go the their isolation rooms and don headphones. We have a room of our own and sing the scratch vocal as the band plays through the song. (The scratch vocal is for reference only and won't make it to the final recording.) There is a practice run to catch any problem areas and then the song is recorded two or three times until everybody feels they have a keeper. Next comes "fixes" where one by one the players can go back and fix a wrong note or try a different solo. We use the top studio musicians so the level of talent is amazing and they work very fast. Still we try to average one song per hour and that is sometimes difficult. We worked hard all day and by 10 PM we had eight songs on tape. What a fun and LONG day!

TUESDAY - We returned to the studio and from 10 am to 2 PM we captured the last two songs for the project. Now the "tracking" portion of the project was finished! We grabbed a quick bite and rushed down the road to a photo shoot for the album cover and new promo material. I hate to have my picture taken, but it went smoothly and Pam said I looked good in my makeup.

WEDNESDAY - Now it was time to cut our vocal tracks. For this we worked with David Ponder at Michael Sikes Productions, one of the most prestigious studios in Gospel music. Recording vocals is similar to instruments but a lot slower. We sing each song over until there are about three good versions on tape (or in the computer as is the case here). Then we go back and fix all the problem areas. The challenge is to keep all the emotion of the song while working on tiny pieces of it. Once David has all the parts he needs for the lead vocal, Pam and I swap places and record our harmony vocal and the process repeats until the song is done. We worked until 8 PM that night and only had 2 1/2 songs finished. Meanwhile back at New River, they spent the day recording overdubs of harmonica, fiddle and steel guitar.

THURSDAY - This was a LONG vocal day, but very productive. We worked from 10 am to 11 PM and finished a big section of the vocals. Pam works better in the morning so she started the day, and night-owl Phil got really grooving in the evening so we kept going until everyone was about to fall over.

FRIDAY - We were almost done with the lead vocals and were able to finish them from about 11 am to 2:30 PM. We were able to relax with some friends that evening and flew back home on Saturday.

WHAT'S NEXT - This week the rest of the overdub instruments will be recorded at New River and the background vocals will be recorded at Michael Sykes. Then the instrumental tracks will be shipped off to North Carolina where Milton Smith will arrange and record all the orchestral parts. Once all the vocals are finished, David will spend about three days on the computer fine-tuning and perfecting each note and harmony line. When everything is finished, all the pieces will make their way back to New River where Randy Gardner will start mixing on July 2nd. We will return to Nashville for the final day of mixing on July 5th and the full day of mastering on July 6th. During the rest of June I'll be designing all the artwork so when we return from Nashville everything will be ready to ship to the duplicator and the finished CDs and Cassettes will be ready for our return/release concert on August 25th.

That's about it for the technical side, now let us share with you how God came through once again. A few days before we were scheduled to leave I started coming down with a cold or sinus infection or something. We prayed that I would get better but each day my symptoms became worse. We finally surrendered the entire project to God and told Him He was going to have to make everything come together. On Wednesday, lead vocal day, I woke up with my throat swollen almost shut and my head full of congestion. As we were driving to the studio I thought I might have to call my doctor back home to call down some kind of medicine for me. But just like He always does, God came through. When I started to sing that morning my voice was clear and my throat was fine. It stayed that way all Wednesday and Thursday while I finished all my lead vocals and harmony vocals except one. Then on Friday I was right back to being sick again and am still fighting a cold today. God blessed this project with His favor and we are honored to be in his service.

----- Tuesday June 19, 2001 -----

Thanks for all the positive response to last week's newsletter! I received an update call from Nashville yesterday and everything is progressing right on track. All the instrumental overdubs are finished and this week work will start on the background vocals and orchestrations. The project will be released at our return concert August 25, but we've had so many requests that we will start taking pre-orders in the next few weeks. There will be a new secure order area on our webpage for credit card orders and we'll give you all the info when it is up and running.

Pam is walking better all the time and is only using her cane outside the house. Pam's progress has been amazing and we are excited about all God has done, but we know He's not finished yet. We see a lot of people who assume we are back to normal and singing full time. There is still quite a way to go and August is speeding upon us. Pam still has many specialists to see and at least one more plastic surgery on her face and possibly another on her left hand. She had an EMG nerve test today on her hands where they stick needles into the muscles to see what and how much they are working (sounds like fun, doesn't it!) The report was good in that all the muscles and nerves tested were working to some extent, which leaves the possibility for improvement. We are praying that God continues to heal everything so she can get her surgeries over before we start back on the road. We will be keeping a slightly lighter schedule than before, but we are already booked in several different states in the first few weeks. Keep on praying!

We've noticed that our devotions that generate the most response either involve our kids or Phil doing something stupid. No kids in this one so guess what that leaves...

----- Tuesday June 26, 2001 -----

So much to share and so little space!! I'll just jump right in...

----> Pam has set a goal of July 4th as her Independence Day - she plans to throw her cane away and walk without any assistance! That is also the day we'll be flying to Nashville to finish our new album so we'll need to double up our prayers.

----> Today Pam and I met with the Vocational Rehab folks so Pam can relearn to drive. Her right foot is still kind of wimpy so we may have to have some modifications made to the van, but then again... When we bought our new van we were planning to have it modified with a wheelchair lift but before we could get it ordered, God brought her to the point where she didn't need a lift at all! I wouldn't be surprised if He does the same thing this time.

----> Our new album is coming along right on schedule. I got a call Sunday evening from Milton Smith in North Carolina who is orchestrating the project. I had this concept for an orchestral prelude to the album and he was working on it. The first version just wasn't quite right, but after several hours and many calls with me listening over the telephone, he created what I was hearing in my head. It is like nothing you've ever heard on a Southern Gospel album before. You're gonna love it!

----- Tuesday July 3, 2001 -----

We are running around today trying to tie up last minute details before we head back to Nashville tomorrow to finish our new album. The mix started yesterday morning and we will be there for the final mix day on Thursday and the mastering day on Friday. Now as the project is finishing we fervently pray that God will bless all that is done and His anointing will flow through and unite all the parts into a tool He can use to touch lives.

Pam's next plastic surgery has been moved from July 17th to August 9th. That gives Pam a whole 15 days to recuperate before we hit the road! Don't quit praying yet, God's got a lot of work to do.

----- Tuesday July 17, 2001 -----

Thanks for your patience with no newsletter last week, I was having a high stress time and didn't need any more projects on my plate. Now as I promised, I bring you up-to-date with our second Nashville trip.

All the pieces of our new album (orchestrations, overdubs, background vocals) were finished and mixing started on Monday, July 2. We flew down on Wednesday, July 4th in the afternoon and went in for the final mix day on Thursday. We were expecting to listen to everything and make a few minor changes here and there. Instead we walked into a mess that had parts missing in some places and too many parts in others, plus a load of technical problems. It was a situation where a lot of people worked on the album and we weren't able to be in town to oversee the entire process so little mistakes added up to big problems. We started Thursday at 10 am, worked until 2 am Friday morning, but we still weren't done. We went back on Friday at 9 am and were able to finish up in four additional hours. We grabbed the mixed songs and headed across town to the mastering house. Mastering is a process that is hard to explain, but is basically a final polishing step to make a great mix sound even better. We started mastering at about 1:30 pm and left with a mastered project at around 1 am. Then back to the hotel to catch a few hours sleep and off to the airport to fly home. If you counted that up, we worked about 32 hours in 2 days with very little sleep. Needless to say, we came home pooped. So much for the glamorous life of a recording artist!

We gave everything a listen on Monday after we were rested up and the project sounded good, but not great. A quick call to the Mastering engineer and he remastered the project and sent us a new copy that sounds great. There are a few tiny areas that we may still fix (Pam says that I am way too picky), but the few people who have previewed it say this is our best yet. We are excited to share it with you very soon.

There was a huge response to our PICK-A-COVER contest. It is hard to believe, but out of 138 votes, 69 liked cover A best and 69 liked cover B best. Since there was a tie, that means we'll have to decide which cover to use and you'll have to wait until they are released to see which one we picked.

You are all so full of questions!!! That's great, we like to hear from you. Now for some answers...

---> No, the new album is not finished yet. It went in for a (hopefully) final remix yesterday and will be remastered tomorrow. The printing is already in production so the CDs should be ready for the release concert next month. We are confident this is going to be a great album - you're gonna love it!

---> The Return Concert - Saturday, August 25, 2001 at 7:00 pm. Christ United Methodist Church, (2 blks East of Noland Rd on 39th St.) Because of the tremendous response, we have decided to have a second concert on Sunday night. Seating is limited to around 450, so if you are planning to attend (and we hope you are) please e-mail filmorgan@aol.com or call 816-524-2023 with your name and number of seats needed. When the building is full for Sat night (or if you'd prefer Sun) we'll start filling up Sunday. Make sure to be there ... CALL or E-MAIL TODAY!!!!

---> Pam saw her neurosurgeon today and he released her!!! He was still amazed at her progress and said his job is finished. One cool thing, he told us his colleagues said he would probably never have another patient recover like Pam. They called her a once-in-a-lifetime patient, but we call her a miracle!

It is hard to believe that in less that a month we will be back on the road again! What a year it has been...the view from this side of the valley sure looks better than the other. As the pace and excitement begins to build, let me fill you in on the highlights...

----> PAM UPDATE. I'm going to give you a complete update of Pam's progress and current condition in the new future so you can know what to thank God for and what needs continued prayer. In the meantime, Pam is taking therapy for her hands and starting to see some slow improvement. She will also be taking some special evaluations and training to start driving again. We think her next plastic surgery may be postponed for a while to let her eye heal a bit more, but will know more about that after she sees the doctor again. Finally, her right leg is still improving and more muscles are coming around. She did make her Independence Day goal of walking without the cane, but she still uses it sometimes when walking on uneven surfaces or a long distance. God's not finished yet, He's still getting her ready for the road!!!

----- Tuesday August 7, 2001 -----

Our return to full-time ministry is a few weeks away and things are busy around the Morgan home and office. Our LIVING PROOF album is being duplicated, the secure web site is up and taking pre-orders, our new LIVING PROOF T-shirt is almost ready to be printed, I've started loading the new songs onto our MP3.com site for release August 25, our new 2001-02 posters are finished, and list goes on. I'm ready to get back on the road so I can rest!

We have about 80 seats left for the Saturday, August 25 return concert and there is still plenty of room on Sunday night. If you haven't made your reservations, e-mail me as soon as possible. I feel the need to explain something here: the whole reason for reservations is to make sure no one is turned away at the door. When Saturday night is full, we'll ask if other folks can come on Sunday night. The reservations help us organize a little better, but IF YOU DON'T HAVE A RESERVATION, COME ANYWAY!!! We will find a place for you to sit. Invite everyone you can think of, reserve seats if you can, but either way COME ON, we want everybody to help us celebrate God's goodness these two nights!

Pam's final plastic surgery was scheduled for this Thursday but we have decided to postpone it for a few months for two reasons, one of which needs your prayer. First, Pam doesn't think the skin around her eye has softened enough and the doctor says the area will keep getting softer. She wants to make sure everything is as healed as possible so this is will be her last surgery. Second, you my remember we've mentioned a few times our struggles with our insurance company. I must say that although they have been difficult to deal with and we still have to call them several times each week, when they finally pay the bills they pay them completely. Now they are questioning whether to approve this next surgery or not. I think they will, but it means a lot of struggle and work on our end. We want to get all these procedures done this year because (here's another big prayer area) we just found out that as of next February our insurance company will no longer be offering health insurance in Missouri. That means we will have to get new insurance, and we don't know how Pam's broken neck will affect the cost and coverage. We're sure God will take care us, but we're tired of spending so much time on non-ministry concerns. Thanks for your prayers!

We are so excited about our upcoming return to ministry!! In just over a week we will be back and rolling. There is so much to do, I'm just gonna give you some highlights...

----> THE RETURN CONCERTS - Saturday night is FULL!!! Yeah!! We are asking everyone who hasn't made a reservation yet to come on Sunday night. If you can only come on Saturday, come on and we'll find a seat for you. We are expecting a capacity crowd both nights and are honored that so many folks want to share this celebration with us. The facts: Sat/Sun August 25/26, 2000 - 7 pm - Christ United Methodist Church - 2 blocks East of Noland Road on 39th St - Independence, MO.

----> We will be a featured guest at the Family Christian Store's Grand Opening in Independence. Come see us on Friday, August 24th from 4 to 5 pm at the new store next door to Target across from Independence Center. We will be signing pictures and may even have our new album for sale!

----> Pam continues to steadily improve. Her fingers are coming along with the new hand therapy and her doctor has just ordered some more sessions to help restore strength and function. She also passed her driver's evaluation and when we make some minor modifications on the car she will be able to drive again! Just think, we originally planned to add a wheelchair lift and now all she needs is a left foot gas pedal. God is GREAT!!

----> There has been some confusion I'd like to clear up. It seems that many people think I have been on the road all this time and now Pam is joining me again. I finished out some of our dates last year, but the return concert will be the first ministry concert either of us has done in 2001. As most of you long time readers know, we have been busy just surviving this past year.

----> ATTN: KC folks. Some dear friends of ours, the Heirborn Quartet from Pryor, OK will be in concert tonight at Blue Ridge Blvd. Christian Church. The program starts at 7:30 and we'd love to see you there!

 

----- Thursday August 23, 2001 -----

WJust two more days and we'll be BACK!!! All the pieces are coming together and UPS stops at our house almost every day. I hope to have time to start the devotions again next week, but for now, here's the scoop...

It is now official, the Phil and Pam Morgan Music Ministry is BACK and off to a great start. Thanks to everyone who joined us for our release concerts last weekend. It was a tremendous time and we heard so many comments about God's presence in the room. We estimate there were somewhere over 1000 people in attendance - the church was packed and we had to set up chairs to hold everyone. It felt so good after 15 months of downtime to be out sharing about God's goodness once again. We believe that God has great things in store for us this year and next as we take this message to His people. Keep praying for Him to use us to touch lives.

We hope you had a great holiday last weekend! We had a wonderful trip to Texas with great driving weather and powerful concerts. We spent about 27 hours driving in 3 days so I guess you could say we are back on the road for sure! Sorry we are so late getting our newsletter out, but have been busy buying a new car. Actually it is a used car, but it has 200,000 less miles than our old one. We'll be adding a left foot gas pedal and steering wheel thingie (that's the technical term) and Pam will be driving again! Watch out Walmart, here she comes.

----- Tuesday September 18, 2001 -----

Sorry about no newsletter last week, but nothing went at all like I planned, as I'm sure is the case for everyone in America and around the world. The tragic events in New York and Washington came as a real shock, though we shouldn't be surprised. We are residing in Satan's domain and his ways are the ways of deceit, destruction and death. I'm sure you're hearing about this atrocity from all angles so I won't dwell on it now other than to say, now is our opportunity as Christians to tell the world about Jesus!

We had a minor catastrophe of our own last week. Last Wednesday night, when I was planning to write the newsletter, Alisha had a wipeout while running down the hall. So instead of going to bed, she and I took a little trip to the emergency room where the doctor closed up the gash in her head with 6 staples. Both she and the wall are doing fine and she should be good as new in a couple of weeks (I'm not sure our walls will ever be the same).

We had a full schedule around the area last weekend. We started on Friday afternoon with a private service at Kansas City Youthfront. On Saturday we were featured as part of a community block party at Countryside United Methodist in Raytown, MO. The rain threatened to cancel everything but we just moved inside and had a great service. On Sunday morning we traveled south for a morning service at Rose Hill Baptist church in LaTour (Garden City) MO. We finished the weekend closer to downtown with an evening service at Friendly Assembly of God in Kansas City. We are seeing so many lives touched by God as we share His powerful work in our lives. Please continue to pray for our strength and more opportunities to serve Him.

----- Thursday September 27, 2001 -----

The big computer virus that is sweeping the country has hit some of the computers that house our website. Everything is OK and back up and running now, but even though I had a devotion all ready to go Tuesday, I still haven't been able to upload the song that accompanies it. I'll keep working and hopefully everything will be in place for next Tuesday!

Alisha is doing fine (that was the number one question at our concert last week, thank you faithful readers!) Her staples are out, her head is healed and it doesn't seem to have slowed her down one bit.

Our concert schedule is really filling up for this year (you can check it out on the website www.PhilandPamMorgan.com). There are a couple of special events you might want to add to your calendar. First, on Friday Nov. 2 at 7:30 pm we will be back at Blue Ridge Blvd. Christian Church in Independence, MO. The church has stopped their monthly concert series, but they are bringing us back for a special night. It has become a tradition at Blue Ridge that we do some songs that are not in our current lineup and you never know what we are going to come up with! It should be a fun night so plan to be there. Then on Saturday, Nov. 10 we are bringing back the Harvest Time Gospel Sing. We are doing things a little differently this year, and it should be better than ever. The event will start at 4:00 pm with hayrides, kids games, hotdogs and roasted sweet corn. The music will begin at 7:00 pm with a great gospel concerts featuring The Filers, Phil & Pam (that's us), and some surprise guests. I'll have more info as we get closer, but mark your calendar and plan to be there!

Many of you have asked how you can help us and our ministry. One easy way is to tell your church about us. If we haven't been to your church with our new Living Proof tour, tell your pastor, music minister, or whoever about us. We are scheduling dates for 2002 right now so have them give us a call at 888-523-4492. A recommendation from a church member is the most effect way to open the door for our ministry to a congregation. God is moving in a mighty way with our new testimony and we'd love to share it with you!

We hope everything is going great for you and yours! We are running at full steam around here and having a great (and tiring) time. We'll be visiting our friends in the group "Adoration" when we sing at their homecoming in Shreveport, Louisiana this weekend. This will be our first time to LA and we look forward to making many new friends in the South.

We were honored that "The Impressions" out of Branson, MO included two of our songs on their latest album. The project is called "I'm Coming Home To Jesus" and includes "Martha" and "God Chooses Who He Uses". Another of our tunes, "He Did" was featured on the latest album by "Southern Charm" out of Texas, and it was chosen to be their first radio single. These are the most recent of several songs cut by other artists. It is exciting to see God's message through our music reach and even bigger audience!

Greetings from the road!

I am writing this to you from somewhere in Arkansas (to be honest, I'm not really sure where). We are on the way home from a busy but very good trip to Louisiana. On Friday and Saturday we were featured guests of the group Adoration at their annual homecoming celebration in Shreveport. We got to spend some wonderful fellowship time with other gospel music groups from around the country and it was a refreshing time for all of us. Then on Sunday morning we ministered at the First Church of God in Shreveport and finished up the weekend with a Sunday night concert at the Bethel Full Gospel church in Magnolia, Arkansas. Adoration is a wonderful group of guys with a real heart for the Lord and we are honored to call them our friends. They have recorded our song "He Did" and use it to close their concerts. It was exciting to hear how the song is touching lives everywhere they go. What a joy to see that God is using our music even beyond where we are able to travel. AMEN!!!

Pam should be driving this week if all the parts come in! She is pretty excited and I am looking forward to giving up some of my chauffeur duties. But wait, that means she'll be able to go shopping at the mall without supervision ... my credit card may never be the same! (Just kidding!!!)

----- Wednesday October 24, 2001 -----

We are back from our anniversary trip to Colorado and ready to hit the road again this weekend. We had a wonderful and relaxing time and the weather couldn't have been better. If you haven't taken a vacation in a while, I highly recommend it!

Pam is doing fine and driving all by herself again. I have been evicted from the new car so you'll see me tooling around in the van from now on! One note for prayer, we still don't have any leads on health insurance and ours will end in February. I'm sure God will take care of this, but we would like to see some direction soon.

We have several special evenings planned that we hope you can attend. The first is Friday, Nov 2 at 7:30 pm. We will be back for a fun-filled evening of worship at Blue Ridge Blvd. Christian Church. We'll be sharing some songs we don't sing much anymore, so come out and see how good our memory is! The church is 2 mi NW of the Blue Ridge Mall at 3625 Blue Ridge Blvd. in Independence, MO. Free Admission-Love Offering.

On Saturday, Nov 10 join us Down On The Farm! We'll be hosting our fourth annual HARVEST TIME GOSPEL SING with The Filers and special guest DeWayne Phillips (former guitarist for George Jones). The evening will start at 5:00 pm with hayrides, kids games, fun, food and fellowship ... plus great gospel music in the huge, covered and heated barn. The Farm is located 6.5 mi E of 71 on 7 Hwy in Garden City, MO. Tickets will be available at the door for $8 Adults, $4 kids 6 to 12, and under 6 Free.

Finally, we announced a special Christmas program with the Melody Boys Quartet. The Boys had a scheduling conflict so instead we will feature a great quartet from St. Louis, MO call the Redemptions. The night will start with a traditional concert from the Redemptions followed by a special program where the quartet will join us as we share our favorite Christmas songs, stories and memories. This will be our only Christmas program this year so don't miss it! Sunday, Dec 9 - 7:00 pm at Christ United Methodist Church, 2 blocks E of Noland Rd on 39th St in Independence, MO. Tickets will be available at the door for $8 Adults, kids 12 and under Free.

We hope this finds you and yours doing great! We are back from Iowa where we had a WONDERFUL series of concerts. It was so good to see old friends again as well as make some new ones. This weekend we'll be closer to home so...

All you KC folks, you get the best of both worlds this weekend! On Friday night we will be at Blue Ridge Blvd Christian Church with a program of our songs that aren't in our current lineup. Come out and enjoy all those favorites that you miss hearing us do. Then on Saturday night join us as we present our regular 2001 LIVING PROOF lineup at Eastside Assembly! Here are the specifics: (FRI - 7:30pm, Blue Ridge Blvd Christian, 3625 Blue Ridge Blvd, Independence, MO / SAT - 6:30pm, Eastside Assembly of God, 3923 Pittman Road, Kansas City, MO - Love Offerings both nights) If you still want to hear more, join us at First Assembly of Higginsville on Sunday morning!

I need to make a slight clarification. Our upcoming HARVEST TIME GOSPEL SING, CHRISTMAS WITH THE REDEMPTIONS, and similar future events are not really ticketed events. They are different from our regular ministry concerts in that we will accept a suggested donation at the entry door of the event. The price is what we feel it will take to pay the expenses for that evening. If you are not able to pay the suggested amount, come anyway and give what you can, we never want money to keep someone away. If God places in your heart to donate more than the suggested amount, that's great too! We are collecting at the door so there will be no interruption later during the program. So how does it all work??? I'm glad you asked. When you make a donation at a Phil & Pam concert (or any other ministry concert for that matter) you are supporting the overall ministry of taking the Good News out to the public. We never let size keep us away from an opportunity to share God's message, so your donation allows us to reach someone down the road at a church that may be too small to meet our weekly living needs. On the other hand, at a special event where we are bringing in other singing groups there are set expenses that need to be met that night and your donation goes to cover those expenses. ----- Wednesday November 7, 2001 -----

We had a wonderful time see so many of you last weekend and look forward to seeing even more of you at our upcoming concerts! This year is speeding along and it is hard to believe it will soon be gone. We will be taking a few weeks off for Christmas and then it's 2002, here we come!

Pam has another plastic surgery on her face on Tuesday, the 20th. Please keep her in your prayers for that, plus continued healing in all areas. God is still working!! The muscles in her slow leg have woken up more and she will be taking more therapy to get them going. She continues to take hand therapy every week and is making progress, but it is slow.

We hope you are all planning to join us this Saturday night for the FOURTH ANNUAL HARVEST TIME GOSPEL SING! It sounds like we are going to have beautiful weather, but since this is an outdoor event, please dress accordingly. ----- Thursday November 15, 2001 -----

Man, what a busy week! We had great series of concerts last weekend, starting off with our Harvest Time Gospel Sing down on The Farm. It was a blast with hayrides, bon fires, hot cocoa, a huge hay castle, sweet kettle corn and a giant chipmunk! Oh, I almost forgot, the music was great too! If you missed it, you MISSED it and you'll have to wait until next year to join in the fun.

Tuesday morning we had another change of plans (I should be getting used to these by now, I guess!) While Pam was getting ready to go to a women's bible study, she lost her footing and fell in our bedroom. It happened too quick for her to catch herself so she slammed her face into the floor. We thought she had bitten through her lip so we rushed her to the emergency room where we found out that wasn't the case, but she had hit hard enough to split her lip open on the inside and outside from the center almost to the right edge. She now has many stitches on the inside and outside and a big puffy lip that I'm sure hurts as bad as it looks. We need your prayers that she will be healed up enough to sing on Friday and twice on Sunday. It is a blessing that she didn't knock out any teeth or break her nose or neck again, and the stitches should be ready to come out by next Tuesday when she has her plastic surgery on her face, so the surgeon can do everything at one time! How's that for looking on the bright side???

----- Tuesday November 20, 2001 -----

Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm writing to you from the surgery waiting room at Research Hospital where Pam is having her latest and hopefully final plastic surgery. This time the doctor is finishing the reshaping of her left eye and revising a bad scar on her left arm. This should be a minor operation compared to previous ones and Pam should be ready to go for our concert this weekend. Her lip is still a little puffy but doing much better and she had the stitches removed yesterday. She still had a pretty good lisp going at our Friday night concert and when I teased her about it, I thought she might give me a fat lip to match hers!

We hope you are all planning to attend our "Home for Christmas" concert on Sunday night December 9th. Our friends, The Redemptions from St. Louis will be joining us for a great evening of music, memories and fun. The concert will be at Christ United Methodist church, 2 blocks east of Noland Road on 39th St. in Independence, MO. We will be collecting a suggested donation of $8 for adults at the door to cover the cost of the evening. If you can't afford $8, come anyway and donate whatever you can so we can continue to bring top quality groups to the area.

Please allow me to touch on a subject that I really don't want to talk about but feel is necessary. We often have folks comment on the high quality of our recordings. We feel God deserves the best and we work with best people to make sure we are giving Him our best offering. Unfortunately we also often hear people talking at our product table about making copies of our music to give to others. We have even had people come and share with us how many people have been blessed by our songs because of all the copies they have made of the CD or tape they bought from us. We feel these folks are very sincere in their motive but don't realize to full effect of their actions. First, copying is stealing, and that is wrong. God felt strongly enough about stealing to include it on His "Thou Shalt Not" top ten list. Beyond that fact, copying our product hurts our ministry. To keep the high quality we are known for, we spent over $25,000 to record our last album. That doesn't include duplication, packaging, promoting, etc., and every penny comes out of our pocket. You can see that we have to sell a LOT of CDs and Cassettes just to break even. We are committed to share the message God has given us with as many people as possible and the only way we can continue to record new albums is for the previous ones to cover the cost. If you are considering copying one of our albums for someone, please purchase a copy for them instead. If you have an illegal copy of our music, please throw it away and purchase a legal copy. I hope that gives you a better idea of how the recorded portion of our ministry operates so you can help us continue to share the greatest message in the world!

P.S. Pam came through her operation just fine and the doctor was very pleased with the outcome. Now we pray that this will heal properly so it will be her last plastic surgery!

----- Thursday November 29, 2001 -----

Thanks for all your concern over Pam's latest surgery. She came through with flying colors and has already had the stitches removed from her eye. Her arm stitches will have to wait another week but they are healing nicely too. For those of you that have joined us recently, these operations are still a result of our accident. Along with a broken neck, Pam's left arm and the left side of her face were almost torn off and these are plastic surgeries to repair damage and improve scars and skin grafts. We are still looking for new insurance that will cover Pam when ours leaves the state next Feb. We know that God will do something, but please keep us in your prayers for this area.

We are excited to finish our 2001 concert lineup with our "Home for Christmas" concert on Sunday night December 9th. Our friends, The Redemptions from St. Louis will be joining us for a great evening of music and fun. We will start the evening with a traditional gospel concert from the Redemptions and after a short break, Pam and I along with the Redemptions will share our favorite Christmas songs, stories and memories. ----- Tuesday December 11, 2001 -----

Sunday night was our big "Home for Christmas" program with the Redemptions Quartet from St. Louis, MO and we were so thrilled with how everything turned out. The was a good crowd gathered to watch the Redemptions Gospel segment, then we took a short intermission with coffee, juice and cookies while the stage was transformed into a gigantic living room. We brought in a couch, tables and chairs (thanks for the help, movers!) and soon the music started up with our entire family coming in through our "front door" at the side of the sanctuary. We shared some great Christmas music and stories about when we were kids. Both of our girls sang some songs with us and Kayla made her debut on the piano. It was a wonderful evening and we hope everyone left with the joy of Christmas in their hearts!

Our year here is winding down and we are going to take a short breather before we start up again in January. This has been a difficult and exciting year for us, and we have many ideas and plans to expand our ministry for 2002. God has been overwhelmingly faithful to us and so have you, so please accept our heartfelt appreciation for your continued support and love.

We pray this holiday will be a time of peace and refreshment for you. Remember to look beyond the glitter into the manger to focus on the TRUE meaning of Christmas.
